Montenegro Aims for Revival in Friendly Showdown Against Armenia

The Montenegrin national football team is set to conclude its June cycle with a friendly match against Armenia in Nikšić at 8 PM. Coach Robert Prosinecki has decided to field a young squad, with several key players, including Stefan Savić, Nikola Krstović, Marko Janković, Igor Vujačić, and Milan Vukotić, absent from the lineup.

Following a disappointing 2-0 defeat to the Czech Republic in their World Cup qualifying match, Montenegro is looking to build morale with this upcoming game. Coach Prosinecki reflected on the previous match, noting that while the first half showed promise, the team faltered in the second half. He emphasized the need for improved control and creativity on the field going forward.

In his attempt to rejuvenate the team, Prosinecki plans to give debuts to players Vasilije Adžić and Andrija Bulatović. He acknowledged that Armenia, although missing star player Henrikh Mkhitaryan, is a solid opponent known for its tough 4-1-4-1 formation. Adžić expressed enthusiasm for his long-awaited debut, while also sending good wishes to the youth team he recently captained as they gear up for their European Championship appearance.

Stevan Jovetić will also feature in the match and is poised to make history by becoming the record holder for the most appearances for Montenegro’s national team.

This friendly match not only serves as a platform for younger players to showcase their talent but also reflects Montenegro’s commitment to building a stronger, more dynamic team for the future. With fresh faces ready to step into important roles, there is a hopeful outlook for the national side as they aim to revitalize their performance on the pitch.
