Six of the nation’s 10 hottest neighborhoods, according to Redfin’s latest ranking, are clustered in the Midwest — a marked sign that affordability is driving buyers away from coastal metros and into the country’s center. Redfin measured “hotness” by growth in listing views over the past year and by competitiveness indicators such as average days on market, sales-to-list-price ratio and frequency of competing offers.

The list also includes two fast-growing suburbs of Tampa and a pocket of Long Island’s Nassau County. Leading the Florida contingent is Land O’ Lakes (ZIP 34637), about 20 miles north of Tampa, where home prices rose 7.6% year over year and sales spiked 36%. The median home there is $425,000 — a figure Redfin describes as roughly in line with the national average. Nearby Plant City (ZIP 33566), about 25 miles east of Tampa, has a lower median price of $320,000 and saw sales climb 6% year over year.

Midwestern neighborhoods dominating the ranking reflect both rapid price appreciation and fierce buyer competition. Oak Creek, Wisconsin (ZIP 53154), on Lake Michigan just south of Milwaukee, reported a median home price of $381,200 and the market has been heating up quickly: prices are up 12.8% year over year and 38% of homes there sell above list price. West Bend, another Milwaukee suburb (ZIP 53090), posted even stronger gains, with median prices at $350,000 and a 16.7% annual increase; about 45% of homes in West Bend ultimately sell for over asking.

Michigan’s Lincoln Park (ZIP 48146), a Detroit suburb, offers a contrasting affordability draw: the median home price on the list is the lowest, $158,000, yet demand is brisk. Homes in Lincoln Park are averaging just 30 days on market and sales are up 14% year over year. Those quick turnarounds underscore the way buyers are prioritizing value and speed, particularly in communities where inventory moves fast but entry prices remain accessible.

The New York-area entry is Oceanside, Long Island (ZIP 11572), where the median home costs $725,000 — well above many Midwestern entries but comparatively competitive for Nassau County. Multiple-offer situations are common in Oceanside, where roughly half of homes end up selling over list price, reflecting sustained demand in commuter-friendly suburbs that offer proximity to the city and coastal amenities.

Redfin’s snapshot comes amid broader patterns in which buyers, constrained by affordability in pricier coastal markets, are turning to inland metros and outlying suburbs. The concentration of Midwest neighborhoods in this ranking suggests that demand is shifting toward places that combine lower entry prices with surging buyer interest, while pockets of Florida and New York-area suburbs continue to draw buyers for regional lifestyle and location advantages.
