New York Knicks center Karl‑Anthony Towns and his fiancée, model and entrepreneur Jordyn Woods, star in a new promotional spot for the upcoming superhero film Supergirl, joining the movie’s lead, Milly Alcock, in a short, tongue‑in‑cheek advertisement first circulated this week. The ad — which plays on Towns’s celebrity profile beyond the court — features a playful exchange in which Woods reproaches Towns for being late and he replies: “I have a great excuse. I got lost in space with Supergirl.”
Directed by Craig Gillespie, Supergirl is scheduled to open in cinemas on June 26, 2026. Alcock, who rose to wider attention with a role on HBO’s House of the Dragon, is the film’s star; the promotional clip juxtaposes Alcock’s sci‑fi leading role with the real‑world celebrity couple to generate mainstream buzz ahead of the film’s release.
The spot is the latest sign of Towns’s growing presence in Hollywood. This month he made a cameo appearance in The Devil Wears Prada 2, which premiered on May 1. Towns did not attend that premiere, telling reporters he had to miss the red carpet because of basketball commitments. “I was invited, I had work,” he said, referring to a Knicks‑Hawks matchup on the day of the film’s premiere.
That “work” has been consequential: on May 4 in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference first round, Towns posted a triple‑double as the Knicks closed out the Atlanta Hawks, finishing with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a 114‑98 victory. Towns averaged 18.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 6.0 assists across six playoff games as New York eliminated Atlanta.
With the Hawks gone, the Knicks now turn to the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference semifinals, with Game 1 set for Monday at Madison Square Garden. Towns’s ability to balance postseason intensity with a rising media profile will be on display as the series begins, both on the court and in the public eye.
Off the court, Towns and Woods’s relationship remains a recurring storyline for celebrity watchers. The couple, who dated for five years after first becoming friends in 2020, announced their engagement in December 2025. They were most recently photographed on a double date in New York with actor Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner at 4 Charles Prime Rib steakhouse; earlier that evening Chalamet and Jenner attended the Knicks game at Madison Square Garden.

The Supergirl spot leverages that celebrity currency, marrying a high‑profile sports figure and influencer with a young leading actress early in her film career. With the film’s June release approaching and the Knicks still alive in the playoffs, the campaign could amplify attention for both the movie and Towns’s expanding crossover between professional sports and Hollywood.
