Powley, known for her roles in “Masters of the Air” and “The Morning Show,” will portray Petunia, while Rigby, a BAFTA TV Award winner, has taken on the role of Vernon. Fans of the original film series will remember these characters as Harry’s unkind guardians, played by Fiona Shaw and Richard Griffiths. The series has yet to announce the actor who will fill the role of Dudley, the Dursleys’ son.

The show’s ensemble cast includes Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and Alastair Stout as Ron. There is a notable array of talent in supporting roles, featuring John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid among others.

HBO has characterized the series as a “faithful adaptation,” with an aim to explore every aspect of the wizarding world over multiple seasons. The writing and producing team includes Francesca Gardiner, who serves as showrunner, and Mark Mylod, who will direct and executive produce several episodes. J.K. Rowling is also involved as an executive producer, further ensuring the series aligns closely with the source material.

Though fans await further casting announcements, the series’ commitment to fulfilling Rowling’s vision gives hope for an engaging portrayal of the magical universe that captivated millions around the world. The show’s effort to reintroduce “Harry Potter” to both existing and new audiences highlights a promising direction for the franchise.
