The San Francisco 49ers have received multiple inquiries from teams interested in trading for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, but no agreements have been reached yet, according to reports on Monday.
Trade discussions around Aiyuk, a hot topic as the draft approaches in April, have gained traction again as the 49ers complete their second week of training camp without finalizing a deal for their leading receiver. Recent reports indicate that the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots are among the primary contenders, while the Pittsburgh Steelers have also become a consideration.
The 49ers have publicly expressed their desire to keep Aiyuk, who recorded a career-high 1,342 receiving yards last season, although they remain open to trade offers. Aiyuk has been participating in training camp as a “hold-in,” attending meetings without engaging in on-field practices since the spring offseason program began, allowing him to avoid fines for his absence.
During a practice last week, Aiyuk was seen greeting general manager John Lynch with a handshake and sharing an embrace with coach Kyle Shanahan, which sparked speculation about a potential resolution to their contract discussions. However, Shanahan clarified the exchange, stating, “That’s just usually how we greet each other, honestly.” He added that there would be more displays of camaraderie if the team were featured on a show like “Hard Knocks.”
